The Tree House By Tessy Braun

Image
The Tree House by Tessy Braun - Writer Genre: Contemporary Fiction/Fantasy Caz is treating Kenny to a long weekend away, a Belated break within the Wiltshire countryside, as a Belated 40th Birthday gift complete with cake. Unusually, her choice of location is a treehouse in a clearance next to woods. They arrive, tired from their trek, as cars are not permitted as part of an 'off grid' experience free of all mod cons. While Kenny naps in the Treehouse, Caz goes to make use of the facilities, amongst them a very rudimentary shower Whilst lathering her hair, she hears singing, followed by a low growling. She hurriedly rinses, dries, dresses & climbs up to their naturists retreat, planning to ask her boyfriend if he too heard the mysterious sounds....but, he isn't there.... Whilst I was looking for something to read wanting to work my way through the online authors that I had had contact with & find one who wrote in a Genre I like, I came across Tessy who I...

The Real Roald Dahl By Nadine Cohen

Image
The Real Roald Dahl by Nadia Cohen Genre: Biographical Having googled, I now remember being brought up with Roald Dahl books in the house & possibly even at school, reading 'James & The Giant Peach', 'The Witches', 'The Twits' (a personal favourite), 'George's Marvellous Medicine'', 'The Magic Finger', 'The Giraffe, The Pelly & Me', 'The Enormous Crocodile' & 'Dirty Beasts'. I don't recall reading the book of 'Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, just seeing the film & thinking it all rather sinister. This book was a real eye-opener. As a child I imagined Roald to be a lovely old man & grew up with that image. As an adult I had heard that he was difficult to work with. However, there was a lot that was good about him - primarily his ability to be able to tune into what children wanted from literature. On a personal level, his unwavering determination to provide for his fami...

Saving Lily By Michelle Bliss

Image
Saving Lily By Michelle Bliss Mia had to protect Lily, but how could she do that when she had been reduced to a soul & only had one person who could help her, a musician that was more used to day spa's than dealing with drug cartels. Is her soul strong enough to see them through to the conclusion of her's & Seth's plan to bring her former housemates to justice, Lily to safety & Mia to return to her own body.... When I made the decision to read this book, I wasn't aware of the genre but was intrigued by the title. It has, to some extent taken me out of my comfort zone with the 'fantasy' element. However, it is not fantasy in the typical sense with mythical creatures set in strange lands. That type of 'fantasy' I don't do. I just wanted to clear that up before all authors who write Fantasy come at me asking me read & review their novels. This story is Contemporary & real but has a very clear added element to it, about which no...
